Las Ramblas is the place to be for tourists who want to enjoy Barcelona’s finest. No one would have guessed that this lively area of entertainment and shops once belonged to nuns and monks.

Having long walks along the Ramblas is a worthy task. It is as if everyone is encouraged to explore the stretch on foot, because cars can only use the designated one-way streets at each side of the innermost station. It would be quite a healthy walk having no air and noise pollutions to worry about.

Las Ramblas has everything for everyone. If you love the environment, there is a place for you at the Las Ramblas. There’s the Rambla dels Ocells or the Avenue of the bird, which used to be a popular bird market in Barcelona, and the Rambla de les Flors which used to be the only flower shop in the city. Book lovers on the other hand, would love to pass by various stalls full of books along Rambla dels Caputxins. It would be a reading spree indeed.
